Jumpers represent one of the staple items of a woman’s wardrobe, and no wonder–they are very versatile and there are suitable styles for all seasons. We’ve put together some ideas of what to wear during the course of the year:

• Spring: Now’s the time for lightweight cotton jumpers in fresh pastels or floral patterns befitting the joyful mood of the season.
• Summer: Even during the warm months a jumper doesn’t go amiss. Get an airy jumper with cutout detailing, short sleeves and a wide neckline for cool looks while keeping warm in the evening.
• Autumn: Choose a jumper made from viscose or a very light cashmere jumper that is airy enough for sunny October days. Look for jumpers with a round neck or a collar to keep you warm against the wind.
• Winter: When the weather gets serious, it’s time for cosy wool, chunky knits and turtlenecks, or several lighter jumpers worn in layers. Go for bright colours on dreary days!

Wide shoulders and narrow hips

If you have wide shoulders, A-line long jumpers that balance the shoulders against slender hips are best for you. Wear your jumpers loosely and select dark colours to make your upper body appear narrower. A V-neck will stretch visually and is definitely apt if you have a larger bust.

Narrow hips and waist

Add a little volume to your hips and waist with two-in-one jumpers that appear to include a blouse, or select something with ruffles or horizontal designs around the hips and waist.

Generous hips and a slender torso

Wool is a fibre that creates a natural insulation by generating air pockets. Since it is also water resistant this is the material of choice for cold and wet weather. Wool can be worked in very many ways from casual and sporty to classy, so you’re guaranteed to find something to your taste.

Cashmere, a luxurious fabric, is extremely soft and pliant. Cashmere fabrics are warm but never suffocating, very breathable and extremely elegant.

Silk is a miracle material that adapts to your body’s temperature–this is why silk feels cool in summer and warm in winter. The hypoallergenic fibre is breathable and keeps you cool—not to mention that it looks gorgeous…

Cotton is lightweight and breathable. The natural fibre is comfortably cool against warm skin, machine washable and hypoallergenic. Cotton jumpers are available in a wide range of colours and prints.

Keeping your jumpers in pristine condition

A beloved jumper is worn regularly, and so it needs to be cleaned frequently. Not all materials are washable. With proper care you can keep your favourites in top shape for years to come!

• Check the cleaning instructions on the product label.
• Some jumpers can be washed by hand or on a gentle cycle and at a maximum of 30°C. Use a special liquid detergent and let the jumper dry on a hanger or spread out horizontally on a towel.
• Wool has astonishing self-cleaning properties. A wool jumper aired thoroughly need not go into the washing machine for some time.
• Decorated jumpers with beadwork or embroidery often have to be dry-cleaned.
• Avoid pilling by washing your jumpers inside out. If you have already detected pilling you can use a lint razor to remove it very carefully.
