5 Throwback Fashion Trends That Made a Comeback

Fashion can be a fickle thing. Every day it seems there’s a brand-new trend taking the world by storm. Although every now and then, certain forgotten about styles decide to make a comeback, popping out of the darkest recesses of our wardrobes and back into the forefront of fashion.

Here at Artigiano, we absolutely adore fashion comebacks. As they say, you can’t beat a classic.

1. Leather Jackets

Artigiano Model Wearing Black Leather JacketThis iconic jacket has been popping in and out of wardrobes for over a hundred years now. Originally created as a military jacket, it first achieved its iconic status in the 1940s and 1950s thanks to Hollywood stars such as Jimmy Stewart, Marlon Brando and of course, Honor Blackman in her famous role as Cathy Gale in The Avengers (not that Avengers).

What makes Leather jackets so fantastic is that they work perfectly as statement pieces, effortlessly giving any outfit a chic rock-inspired look. They are also great for layering as they provide you with a sophisticated option for those chilly Autumn days. Be bold and pair your leather jacket with a pair of print trousers for a mesmerising fashion combo.

2. High-Waisted Jeans

A fashion staple of the 1970s, high-waisted jeans fell out of style when low-rise skinny jeans came onto the scene. Thankfully, high-rise styles have seen a revival over the last few years thanks to the likes of Kim Kardashian and Selena Gomez. These fashionistas have rejuvenated the style for the 21st century, breathing new life into the jeans by making use of the latest textile trends and body-shaping advancements.

This waist-cinching fit is perfect for those of you looking to flatter your figure and show off your curves, while still maintaining high levels of comfort.

3. Mules

The oldest member of this list, Mules are one of the first recognised styles of shoe – dating back to the days of Ancient Rome. Even Marie Antoinette was known to have a pair!

Although Mules were originally intended for the boudoir, they finally came into their element in the 1990s when high-end fashion designers began to put their own unique spins on them. From here they’ve been cropping up in catwalks, TV shows (Sex and the City) and were even named by Elle magazine as the shoe of 2017.Model Wearing High-Rise Trousers with Print Kaftan

4. Kaftan Blouses

Famously worn by Stevie Nicks throughout the 60s and 70s, Kaftan blouses never really went out of style. With today’s designers jumping aboard the Neo Boho trend, we’re seeing more Kaftan blouses than ever before on the catwalks of Paris, New York and Milan.

We love this baggy style of blouse as it fits comfortably loose, with wide sleeves that help radiate a relaxed feel. Combine it with a pair of fashionable cropped trousers and you’ll find yourself with a casual yet elegant look that is easy to wear.

5. Coloured Sunglasses

Another 70s fashion comeback we are currently loving are sunglasses with coloured lenses. First popularized by the likes of John Lennon, they’ve only just recently had a resurgence in popular culture. These stylish spectacles instil personality into any outfit and wouldn’t be out of place at the beach on a scorching hot day.
